School Academic Year


Manarat El Maadi American School was founded and accredited by the commission of international and Tran’s regional association in 2004.

 The school aims to graduate well-educated adults to meet the demands of the future.

 Our program develops the greatest mastery of the level from kindergarten through high school.

 The students are evaluated throughout the year, which gives more room for improving the grades and achieving the highest educational level.

 The school prepares the students for the SAT Exam, which gives them the qualification required to apply and to be accepted at university.

 The American School provides: air conditioned classes – computer labs with access to the internet – a fully equipped science lab and high tech library to meet the needs of the students.

  THE SCHOOL ACADEMIC YEAR:

The school academic year is divided into 2 semesters:

Each semester consists of 18 weeks of teaching and assessing, distributed as follows:

Fifteen studying weeks to complete the prescribed part of the course syllabus for each subject.

The sixteenth week (one week) is for general review and practical exams.

The seventeenth and eighteenth weeks (two weeks) are for the term exams.

The student’s grades are accumulated by adding the 2 semester’s marks are to be divided them by 2.
( S.1+ S.2) ÷ 2  = The student’s average grade (The student’s grades are to be reported on the end year progress report)

Grading System:   

All teachers will use a percentage system to evaluate students. This system is based on the teacher’s evaluation for each student in addition to the marks earned in the Final Semester Exam.

Each Term Grade is calculated as follows:

    6 Quizzes each 5 marks = 30

    40 marks for end term exam = 40

    5 marks for attendance = 5

    5 marks for project = 10

    5 marks for homework = 5

    5 marks for participation = 5

    5 marks for behavior = 5

    Total = 100 marks

GRADING SYSTEM FOR ART
Student’s grade in each subject is calculated as follows:

    30 marks for end term exam = 30

    20 marks for attendance = 20

    20 marks for project = 20   

    20 marks for C.W. = 20

    10 marks for behavior = 10

    Total = 100 marks

GRADING SYSTEM FOR MUSIC AND P.E.
Student’s grade in each subject is calculated as follows:

    30 marks for Theoretical participation = 20

    10 marks for attendance = 25

    30 marks for project = 20   

    25 marks for C.W. = 25

    10 marks for behavior = 10

    Total = 100 marks

 All students must pass all prerequisite courses; any student who fails, has to remediate the course in the following summer in order to graduate.

Each subject represents 1 credit which is total of 120 hours of study.
The student has to achieve 8 credits for each grade in order to be promoted to the next grade level.
