The students are evaluated throughout the year, which gives more room for improving the grades and achieving the highest educational level.
The school prepares the students for the SAT Exam, which gives them the qualification required to apply and to be accepted at university.
The American School provides: air conditioned classes – computer labs with access to the internet – a fully equipped science lab and high tech library to meet the needs of the students.
| The School Academic Year: |
The school academic year is divided into 3 trimesters, each consists of 12 weeks of studies, distributed as follows:
1. Ten studying weeks to complete the prescribed part of the course syllabus for each subject.
2. The eleventh week (one week) is for general review and practical exams.
3. The twelfth week (one week) is for the term exams.
The students grades are calculated by adding the 3 trimesters marks, then divide them by 3.
T1 + T2 + T3 = Total marks for the 3 terms
Total ÷ 3 = Average (students grades to be reported in the end year progress report)
All teachers will use a percentage system to evaluate students. This system is based on the teacher’s evaluation for each student in addition to the marks earned in the Final Trimester Exam.
Each Term Grade is calculated as follow:
5 quizzes: 5X 5 = 25 - Total 25
10 marks for projects - Total 10 marks
5 marks for homework - Total 5 marks
5 marks for behavior - Total 5 marks
10 marks for attendance - Total 10 marks
5 marks for participation - Total 5 marks
40 marks for each final Exam (Total: 40+60=100)
